How to Prepare for your Photoshoot
How to Prepare for your Photoshoot - Part 1: Face
In this mini series I'm going to go all out and in depth about every aspect of how to prepare for your photoshoot. All of this information is covered when we meet for your pre-session consultation but it's always handy to have a checklist that you can refer back to!
Remember, you don't have to do everything on this list, just pick and choose the ones that fit your budget and you feel comfortable with.
Today's post is all about your face and how to ensure you are photoshoot ready when your day arrives!
6 Ways to Prepare for your Photoshoot - it's all about your face!
Daily routine - I've said it before, I am useless at doing this myself (my makeup artists always tell me off!) but try to remember to cleanse, tone and moisturise Every. Single. Day. Did you know that toner actually helps to close up open pores in your skin? Yep, I'm doing that more often!
Teeth - If you're like 99% of the population, you probably want a bright white smile and its easier than you think these days! There are several ways to get beautiful natural looking white teeth and here are a few of my favourites:
- Use a whitening toothpaste & floss daily
- For an extra whitening boost, you can buy whitenening strips like these here. I've not personally tried them but I hear they can boost your whiteness in under a week!
- A visit to the hygienist will give you a fresh and clean look and feel straight away. You can also ask your dentist if they offer teeth whitening services.
Exfoliate - Plan to exfoliate your skin with a nice facial scrub a couple of times before your photoshoot. Be sure to leave a few days between sessions. You can make your own facial exfoliating scrub at home or purchase one from your favourite store.
Facial - Another fabulous way to prepare for your photoshoot is to be pampered a little! Go for a facial at your local salon or do an in home treatment yourself. Facials are best done about a week prior to your session.
Don't pick! - I know it's sometimes tempting, but pimples are actually super easy to cover up with makeup. It's also nothing to be embarrassed about, we all get them from time to time! Scabs or dry flaky skin are more difficult to hide. Instead, use something a like a blemish stick and keep your skin clean and dry. This one is a particular favourite of mine - it's handy to keep in your handbag and you can re-apply it throughout the day both under and over makeup.
Waxing / Threading - I'm personally a huge fan of threading for eyebrows but you can get your upper lip and eyebrows waxed or threaded, whichever you prefer. Do this the day before your photoshoot for a super smooth look that really enhances your face.
Stay tuned for Part 2 - Skin - coming next week!
